How To Commission A Painting
Step 1. Decide Which Type Of Painting You Are Looking For.
A Portrait typically begins with a meeting with the subject and a photo session for reference. Poses and client photography may be used as well. The finished oil painting should not only be a perfect likeness but also capture the personality and essence of the person.
Elevated Moments typically begin with a fond memory or a special story from days gone by. One or more photos are provided for reference. The goal is to revive the moment by turning it into a work of art. These oil paintings are scenic in nature that contain figurative gestures without facial rendering.

Aimee would love to meet with you! Meetings can be arranged in person if you are local to Triangle/Raleigh, NC, or can travel. Other arrangements can be made if you would like to “meet” remotely via Zoom.
For Traditional Portraits, it is best to have a photo and sketching session if it is possible for the subject of the painting. All portrait consultation sessions are scheduled at no charge. Commission consultations usually take about 1 hour. During that time Aimee will go over your questions, expectations, and vision and take notes.
Typically with Elevated Moments, it is necessary to work from photographs and in that case, Aimee will collect as much as possible to assure a firm understanding of the painting’s subject. Be prepared to dig through your family photo albums! Feel free to bring as many photos as you can as well as the stories that go along with them.

Some of the details are size, frame or gallery wrap, costs, sales tax, photo references, and client ideas. A 30% non-refundable deposit is collected before the work begins.
Once all the details are worked out, the studio work begins! Using the finest, archival materials, I begin to create your vision with oil paint on linen or canvas.

Unveiling Party! All commission clients are given an opportunity to have an Unveiling Party shortly after approving their commission. Aimee will come to you* and give a brief talk about the process and give a special tribute to the person or story behind the painting. The client will provide refreshments and a venue as well as invite their friends and family to enjoy the new work of art that is being presented.
Share the joy! Notecards and prints are available for purchase to extend to family and friends for gifts or to enjoy in your workplace or vacation home.
*Within a 20-mile radius of Raleigh, NC. Further travel arrangements can be made at additional expense to the client. Various options can be discussed to create something very special together.

Head and Shoulders to Half View:
11x14..........$750.
16x20........$1000.
$400 for each added subject to the same canvas
Half View to 3/4 View:
18x24........$1400
24x30........$1900
$750 for each added subject to the same canvas
Full-length Portrait:
24x36........$2500
30x40……..$3100
$1250 for each added subject to the same canvas
*These are oil-painted portraits on linen or canvas. Pets can also be added or done separately; Special pricing is available for pet portraits. Sometimes the pricing will need to be adjusted in cases of more complex subject matter or reference materials that are difficult to read. Sales tax and framing are not included above.
Elevated Moment Commissions:
These are priced starting at $650 for a 16x20 canvas *Price includes up to 2 figurative gestures without facial rendering. These are starting fees and keep in mind that price quotes will be made according to the complexity of the subject matter and reference material provided. Clients wanting facial details will need to consider portraits. Pets can also be added or done separately; Special pricing is available for pet portraits. All paintings are done in oil paint on linen or canvas. Sales tax and framing are not included above.

Payment Options
Clients have the option of paying with cash, check, or credit card. This is can be done electronically or through the mail. 3-6 Month Interest-Free Payment Plans are also available.

Shipping is arranged on an individual basis and can be priced once the consultation has been completed.
Item will not be delivered without final approval and acceptance on the part of the client. Returns are not accepted once the client has approved the finished painting.
